The Mitsubishi Chariot Grandis

There is nothing like going to a used car sale and buying  Chariot Grandis for a great price.  This vehicle is manufactured by Mitsubishi, and while you may have a problem finding one on a used car sale in the United States you can easily pick one of these up through a Japanese used car dealer.  Not only will you get a great vehicle that will be an investment for your family, you may be able to get one with some of the original manufacturer’s warranty still on it.

When the Chariot Grandis was first released by Mitsubishi it was simply known as the Chariot.  The Grandis was added to the name later during the production schedule.  It came out in 1979 as a compact multi-purpose vehicle that could seat five to seven people comfortably with plenty of shoulder and head room.  The new design of the Chariot was based on the SSW concept car when it was released in 1983, and it has gone by four different model names since then.

Depending on what market you are in, you will find the Chariot Grandis as the Mitsubishi Nimbus, the Mitsubishi Space Wagon - a name we love - and as the Mitsubishi Expo.  When it was released in North America, it was in conjunction with Dodge/Plymouth as the Colt Vista Wagon.  Up through the 2002 model year, the Chariot Grandis was also found as the Kia Carstar, the Mitsubishi Savrin - namely in the Asian markets - and as the Hyundai Santamo.

In 1997 the Grandis addition was added to the name.  Mitsubishi designed the Chariot Grandis to be a larger, weightier version of its original Chariot with a longer wheelbase.  It was eventually replaced six years later by the Mitsubishi Grandis, even though the standard Chariot Grandis continued production in the Asian and European markets for several more years before it was discontinued.

You can consider contacting your local Mitsubishi dealer to see if they have any of the 2003 versions of this vehicle still for sale, but you will probably be better off going overseas to find the Chariot Grandis that fits your needs.  The Japanese do not drive their vehicles as much as residents in other countries do, simply because of the small size of the country.  Instead, many Japanese vehicles are used only on the weekends, which is why the mileage is so low on a car you bring in from Japan.
